About Me

Calgary Portrait & Lifestyle Photographer

My name is Linh Ly and I’m a local Calgarian.  I studied Drawing and Photography at the University of Calgary, graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1998.

Since graduating, I have received numerous grants from the Alberta Foundation for the Arts as well as the Canada Council.  My artworks have been exhibited in artist-run-centres, public galleries and museums such as Truck, the Art Gallery of Calgary, MOCA, The Glenbow Museum,  The Dalhousie Art Gallery, The Alberta Art Gallery, The Walter Phillips Gallery, Gallery 44 and Harbourfront Centre in Toronto.

I have been fortunate enough to be in important shows such as The Alberta Biennale in 2007,  Alberta Emergent Photographers in 2008, and Proof in 2006.  I was invited to guest curate the Edward Burtynsky exhibit, Encounters, at the Glenbow Museum in 2012.  I have been a photographer for 20+ years.

My photographs have been published in the Calgary Herald, Alberta Views Magazine, Ethical Entrepreneur Magazine, Avenue Magazine, Canadian Architecture Magazine, Vanguard Law Review Magazine, This Magazine, and more. My photographic work is included in The Alberta Foundation for the Arts Collection and in the Glenbow Museum’s Art Collection.

If you are in need of a photographer for family portraits, weddings, special events and grad photos please feel free to contact me!
